LFG PLANT
Electrical & instrumentation installation of a new LFG processing plant
LOCATION
North Carolina
VALUE
$3,500,000
PROJECT DETAILS
The Landfill houses a landfill gas (LFG) processing plant with a pre-engineered processing building, control building, and compression equipment. The facility includes an aboveground power feed, station piping, and valves, providing full integration for gas processing. It is designed for local, manned operation and continuous remote control, monitoring and management from headquarters. The site connects to an existing natural gas pipeline for suction and discharge.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The electrical scope of work for the LFG Project involved the installation of power and control systems for the gas collection, compression, and processing equipment. This included wiring, conduit, and raceways for the entire electrical system, including those rated for hazardous locations. Interior and exterior lighting systems, including emergency lighting, were installed, along with grounding and bonding systems for safety.
The scope also included the installation of key equipment such as gas blowers, compressors, scrubbers, dehydrators, and other components. Wiring for the power distribution center (PDC) was provided, along with connections for control systems and power supply to gas processing units. The installation of instrumentation and automatic valves for gas flow, pressure, and composition monitoring was also carried out.
Further work included the installation of an Emergency Shutdown (ESD) system and fire protection systems. Testing and commissioning of all electrical systems were performed to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational specifications. The scope also involved providing technical support, troubleshooting, and completing all necessary documentation, including as-built drawings and commissioning reports.
